Fleep User Story: Heroic

Fleep User Stories is a series of blogposts that highlights the cool people, teams and companies that use Fleep in their daily business.

HeroicThis time, we are featuring Heroic - an independent record label and management agency based in the Netherlands. Heroic was founded by Budi Voogt and Tim van Doorne in 2013.

The goal and ethos of Heroic is ‘Empowering Creators’ – and they really take this to heart. Heroic strives to give the power back to the artist and provide resources to help empower all acts to be as independent as possible. This is why Budi wrote ‘The Soundcloud Bible’ and the ‘Music Marketing Academy’ and Tim recently wrote the ‘Mastering Bible’.

In fact, Heroic is much more than a record label – they are building a positive and forward-thinking community, an ecosystem where super-talents can flourish. Not to namedrop, but the artists they work with include San Holo, Ark Patrol, Fytch and soupandreas, for example.

“We challenge convention and leverage the internet to build sustainable careers for our artists.
By wearing the kamon, the ancient Japanese symbol used to identify a family, we show our resolve.” – Heroic

(From left to right:) Yiannis, Jason, Budi and Tim from Heroic.

We spoke with Yiannis Karavassilis from Heroic about why and how they use Fleep. Without furhter ado, here’s the Fleep user story of Heroic!

How did you find out about Fleep?

We had tried using plenty of other team chat software before. We always found some issues with them, whether that was functionalities that weren’t useful, pricing points that didn’t make sense or features that were missing. After doing some research we found Fleep and we immediately fell in love with how user-friendly it is: how easy it is to navigate, create teams and engage with our team and artists.

Why does the Heroic Records team use Fleep?

team chatOur team currently consists of 12 people, located all around the world. The core team of 6 is based in the Netherlands, and the rest of the team is located in various states in the USA and Canada.

Fleep has become our prime means of communication to update each other, exchange files quickly, talk strategy and even have personal one-on-one conversations. Even more, it has also become a portal for us to work and communicate with our artists. In this, Fleep has really helped ignite a sense of community among the team and our artists. We all feel more connected than we could have ever been without Fleep.

Fleep is also great for having everything in one place, centralized, so we do not have to scour through hundreds of conversations on Facebook Messenger.

How does your team use Fleep?

We split our communication into different teams, and then have conversations for different topics. For example, we have a “Label Group” team with conversations for Marketing, Music Discovery, Design etc.

team chatWe also have a main / general conversation that we’ve named “The Empire” – our whole team and all artists can see this one – there, everyone can post new music, key marketing highlights and engage with the community.

What do you like about Fleep?

I love how easy it is to share files within Fleep, everything is just a drag and drop away. Navigating within conversations to find keywords is amazing as well. As an A&R (Artist & Repertoire) I get sent a lot of demos daily from our artists to review.

I tend to give a lot of feedback to our artists which creates very lengthy conversations, making it harder to just quickly pull up the demo that some might have sent a few days or a week before. With a simple search I can type in the key word and it will pop up immediately. Love it!

What are your Fleep tips?

Command + G is GOD! Makes my life so much easier to navigate through all my conversations and quickly pull convo with a team-mate or artist I want to talk with.

Who would you recommend Fleep to?

I would recommend Fleep to any company that’s looking for a very solid solution for a work chat environment. I’d say especially say startups.

work chat

I think one thing we really love about Fleep is that all of its main functionality is free. As a startup, it’s  sometimes hard to find the funds to allocate to the software you use, especially when you want to prioritize paying your employees (and artists in our case).

Fleep functions as well (if not better) as other chat for teams we tried out where pricing was off the roof. Customer service is great and friendly, and the whole platform really helps create a wonderful culture.

Yay, thank you for sharing the Heroic Fleep User Story, Yiannis! You can find all featured user stories under the Fleep User Stories category. Make sure you also follow Fleep on Twitter and Facebook to keep an eye on our news and updates!

Fleep User Story: Slick Trade

Fleep User Stories is a series of blogposts that highlights the cool people, teams and companies that use Fleep in their daily business.

Slick TradeThis time, our user story features an unbelievably resilient and determined lady, Krystal Comber, and the Slick Trade community she has built.

Krystal’s story starts in 2007, when she suffered serious bodily and brain injuries after a major car wreck. She was told that it was unlikely that she would ever function fully again. Krystal spent a challenging year in recovery and, against all odds, re-learned how to walk, talk and simply be a functioning member of society again.

Krystal Comber

With a strong determination, she was able to get back into college, earn her degree, and start her journey in online business, affiliate marketing and stocks.

Soon, Krystal was introduced to online trading, which ultimately proved to be a game changer for her. Krystal spent months learning the ropes of trading online and studied every piece education she could get her hands on.

She now successfully trades Forex and NADEX, and is also teaching others about trading online through the Slick Trade Online Trading Academy.

When Krystal got involved in online trading, she had a vision for creating a community platform where online traders could connect and learn from each other. She created Slick Trade, which has grown to a strong community, with a common goal to create financial freedom through trading.

The signature Slick Trade membership includes tutorials, trading strategies, signal services, custom expert advisors and auto-traders, live chat and support, and more!

The Slick Trade community uses Fleep as their communication platform. Their live trading and member chat in Fleep is where the community connects, and learns from each other. But let’s have Krystal herself tell us more! Here’s Fleep user story of the Slick Trade community:

How did you find out about Fleep?

Fleep users

We had been using Facebook Messenger as our chat for the first year of Slick Trade’s existence and ran into so many issues with the capabilities we needed. We tried all different kinds of free and paid chat programs, but none of them gave us everything we needed.

Another trading group suggested Kato chat to us and they had everything that we needed to run smoothly. However, about 4 months ago they ended up shutting down their services.

I found out about Fleep from Kato chat. I was hesitant to switch to Fleep due to the issues we had with the previous chat services, and having the members constantly switching and setting up new accounts.

I simply wanted everything to just work so we could do what we do best … trade.  To my surprise, Fleep was perfect for us and I am very grateful for the switch!

What does the Slick Trade community use Fleep for?

Slick Trade uses Fleep as our live trading room.  Here, members can interact with one another and myself.  We give suggestions, let others know what strategies are working best for us, new strategies we have come up with, etc. There’s camaraderie there that has helped so many achieve the financial income they deserve.

Slick Trade

How does the Slick Trade community use Fleep?

Slick Trade uses every aspect that Fleep currently offers. We have one group conversation and multiple 1 to 1 conversations. I personally use it to set up TeamViewer Sessions to help members get their charts set up and running functionally, to speak with Fleep support and our own Support Team and for the group and other 1 to 1 conversations.

I also love the email notifications, so that they are sent directly to my phone right away.  I have a Windows phone, so there is no Fleep mobile app for me.  I have tried the Flow app, but it unfortunately does not run correctly.  So, the email feature is great!

What do you like about Fleep?

I like everything really. The ability to easily add and remove members is very important for the group conversations. I also like the email notifications, 1 to 1 conversations, ability to send files and images right in the chat and the wonderful support they provide.

Fleep email

What are your Fleep tips?

As mentioned above, if you have a Windows phone, just turn on your email notifications to come right through and you’ll be notified right away when someone sends messages to you 1 to 1 or in the group conversations.

Who would you recommend Fleep to?

I would recommend Fleep to anyone that is running a service where they need to have a functional chat running. Whether it is 1 to 1 conversations or group conversations.

The mobile apps are great, and even if you have a Windows phone, you can make it work.  I would even recommend it to users that simply need a chat for school projects, event planning, or just for fun.

Fleep User Story: Shipitwise

Fleep User Stories is a series of blogposts that highlights the cool people, teams and companies that use Fleep in their daily business.

This time, we’re featuring team that believes in taking care of the first mile for any customer – meet Shipitwise! More specifically, they take care of the first mile in international shipping. With their service, the customer can relax and doesn’t have to worry about a thing. At this point, Shipitwise is an easy and affordable international shipping service for individuals.

The Shipitwise team: [first row] Sander, Helen Kokk, [middle row] Anna, Aleksander, Ako, [and in the back row] Olari, Ragmar and Priit.

The company is very new – it was founded in June 2015 by Aleksander Gansen (CEO), Olari Miiter (COO) and Ragmar Saksing (CTO). Other members on the team are Helen Kokk – UI&UX fairy of Baltics, Priit Kallas – Marketing guru of Estonia, Sander Gansen – startup hustler with Silicon Valley experience, Anna Medjanskaja – genius logistic with life-long experience in transport and logistics, and Ako Tulu – development ninja, iOS pro with Skype background.

aleksander gansen

Shipitwise started taking orders in December 2015 and launched their web order form in January 2016 (try them out now!). They’re currently also participating in the Startup Wise Guys BusinessTech Accelerator.

We spoke to Aleksander, the CEO himself, about how and why they use Fleep. Without further ado, here’s the Shipitwise Fleep user story:

How did you find out about Fleep?

Two of our founders were already familiar with Fleep from their previous (successful) startup Fututec. It was a simple decision to start using Fleep as our team communication tool. Fleep is a convenient tool and its interface is really user-friendly.

What do you like about Fleep?

I like that the interface is extremely clear and user-friendly, the application is stable and the search engine is fast. We also enjoy the personal service from Fleep team.

What are your Fleep tips?

star conversatons

It’s smart to create clear group conversations and topics in order to save time on searching for a particular subject or fact across all conversations.

Also, I would recommend making use of the possibility to star conversations – this will pin the most important chats or topics to the top of the conversation list, where they are always in sight.

How do you use Fleep?

Our team uses Fleep for private chats, as well as group conversations. The groups involve different people depending on the topic. For example, the Design and UI conversations do not involve people from Marketing and Sales etc.

Fleep user story shipitwiseWe also make use of the conversation email address. We forward emails to the conversation email and they show up in that specific conversation. This is great for when the content is informative and/or needs the attention of the team members in that conversation.

Also, we have found Fleep to be an ideal tool for collecting social media articles that are relevant to the team. We a have a separate conversation for gathering those - SIW_Social media articles.

Who would you recommend Fleep to?

I would recommend Fleep to anyone who is still using email on a daily basis, needs to follow email conversations and operate inside them.

It is a great tool for any international team as well, much more convenient than Slack. When Fleep is installed, all other platforms seem sooo unfinished. We are using Slack at Startup Wise Guys, but every time I ask myself “Why?!”

ShipitwiseEven the members of a family can make use of it! Basically any person with a computer or mobile device would enjoy Fleep.

Fleep User Story: SprayPrinter

Fleep User Stories is a series of blogposts that highlights the cool people, teams and companies that use Fleep in their daily business.

This time, we are putting the spotlight on the SprayPrinter team. This is a team that believes there’s nothing more uninspiring than a boring blank wall. It’s also a team that uses Fleep as their main team communication tool.

We spoke with Richard from SprayPrinter about what they do and how Fleep helps them in that. Read on if you’d like…

What is SprayPrinter?

SprayPrinter is a smart and exciting device that delivers photos, designs and artwork of the user’s choice to any wall. No more uninspiring boring blank walls.

how sprayprinter worksWith SprayPrinter, anyone can be an artist. You choose the image you want to print on your wall from our app, activate the printer and enjoy the process – pixel by pixel, color by color – it’s as simple as that!

sprayprinter fleep

We have already gathered a strong community of artists and designers behind SprayPrinter, creating real value to the users of the device. It might be fun to print a selfie to your wall once or twice, but for professional designs, we are creating a marketplace where designers, artists and photographers can upload their creation and set their own prices. We take 10% in between and everyone is happy.

We are on Indiegogo for crowdfunding – find out more and support SprayPrinter now!

How did you find out about Fleep?

In the Summer of 2015, I helped my friend out in organizing a sailing trip for the Fleep Team. While sailing, I learned a lot about Fleep directly from the CEO, and when I returned to the office the next day, I became a user immediately.

How do you use Fleep?

At first we used Fleep for all of our internal communication and task management, and by now we also use Fleep to communicate with colleagues and partners who are on Fleep. It’s a really convenient tool for discussing tasks and managing all of our online communication.

fleep user story

We have a dedicated conversation for every major topic – finance management, marketing, production etc – and the whole team is included in these to make sure everyone knows what’s going on. Within the team, we also have 1:1 chats to discuss more detailed stuff.

What do you like about Fleep?

I like the fast customer support. But also the fact that the founders of Fleep develop it for themselves – it makes Fleep a really fast-developing and comfortable tool.

What are your Fleep tips?

Watch the tutorials and use all of the capabilities of Fleep.

Fleep usersWho would you recommend Fleep to?

I would recommend Fleep to every organization that wants to make sure everyone on their team knows at all times where is their contribution point.

Fleep User Story: DreamApply

Fleep User Stories is a series of blogposts that highlights the cool people, teams and companies that use Fleep in their daily business.

If you’ve ever attended university, you’ve probably filled in an application and been through the steps of an admission system. DreamApply specializes in exactly that – it is the leading student admission platform. More than 90 university admission systems across Europe run on the DreamApply platform.

DreamApply Fleep user story

The DreamApply team (from left to right, starting from the front): Ahti, Kert, Sten, Safak, Rene, Ieva, Triin and Lauri

And guess what? They use Fleep as their team communication tool!

We sat down with Safak, Kert and Triin from the DreamApply team for a little chat… here’s their Fleep User Story:

How did you find out about Fleep?

Kert Kivaste DreamApply

Kert from DreamApply

Kert: I was the one to introduce Fleep to the DreamApply team. As I joined the team I felt that we need something better than endless Skype chats and conversations. I had used HipChat previously when I was working on my startup but I wanted to try something different and remembered that I had once heard Henn (CEO of Fleep) speaking at some event so I decided to give it a try – now, one year later we’re still using it actively :)

The benefits of Fleep are becoming especially clear as the team grows (we are now 11 people strong, a Latvian-Turkish-Estonian team!). We did take a look at a few different options for a chat for teams, but decided to go with Fleep as it covered all of our requirements perfectly – and Fleep being a fellow Estonian company to support was like a cherry on the top.

How do you use Fleep?

Kert: First and foremost, we use Fleep as a chat application for the team. Several members of our team work remotely or travel a lot, and Fleep works really well with remote work. In short, Fleep helps us to stay in touch and to collaborate at a distance.

We have both one-on-one and group conversations – some conversations are also project-based or around a specific topic. And, of course, there is a separate Watercooler conversation.

What do you like about Fleep?

Safak Samiloglu DreamApply

Safak from DreamApply

Safak: I like that Fleep is web browser based. I just have it open in one tab, and switch to it when necessary. Also, I use the Android application a lot – it’s very handy to have it when I’m on the go. Additionally, I like how it’s really easy to create group conversations and share files!

Kert: I like how the search works really well across conversations – and how the attachments are all in one place in the conversation. Personally, I have also forwarded all of my GitHub notifications to a specific conversation (with the conversation email address). In this way, I get a feed of updates, all conveniently in one place.

Triin Tartes DreamApply

Triin from DreamApply

Triin: Fleep is more customizable than other team communication tools – so you can really make it your own.

Who would you recommend Fleep to?

Triin: I would recommend Fleep to anyone who has project-based communication, for example I think it would work well as a chat for university students. During my graduate studies, we’ve used Fleep as the team communication tool, too.
